This Fall we hit the trail off of the Blue Ridge Parkway down into St. Mary’s Wilderness for a wonderful trek. While not overly strenuous on the way down, we had a solid hike back up the next day. Learning to navigate water crossings and well, just learning how to navigate were some of the skills taught on the trail. A sort of intro to backpacking in cold weather was also good lessons. We broke up into 2 patrols for hiking and cooking. Good times.
